Big Bend

Inspired by Big Bend

Big Bend is the most vast and grand stretch of untamed land left in Texas—a place you can truly get lost in. Whether deep in the canyons of the mighty Rio or high along the southern rim of the Chisos, this place offers the quiet restoration we all need.

These limited prints and colors were inspired by rambling West Texas adventures, and we hope they’ll spark some curiosity in you to get out to Big Bend for your own desert rest.

“You need to see this place to experience the awesome moment when your heart stands still and your whole body seems to swell—almost to soar.”

Big Bend

Prints from the Chisos Basin

The Chisos Mountains are the crown jewel of Big Bend National Park. A unique microclimate stranded in the middle of the surrounding desert by the great ice age, the Chisos receive twice the annual rainfall and are consistently 20 degrees cooler when compared with the lower Chihuahuan desert.

The cooler, wetter climate allows the mountains to host a variety of wildlife not found elsewhere in the park, like the Carmen Mountain white-tailed deer, Texas madrones, and the inspiration for our Juniper Print, the drooping juniper.

Our Palette of the Bend Print captures the essence of these desert mountains and the feeling you get when standing on the South Rim. We think Ludwig Bemelmans described it well:

“No fire can burn so bright, no projection can duplicate the colors that dance over the desert or the bare rock formations that form the backdrop. No words can tell you, and no painter hold it. It is only to be visited and looked at with awe.”

Shades of the Chihuahuan Desert

Sunset hikes in the desert gave way to our new Big Bend colors: Sotol Yellow and Moonlight Purple. Slow down long enough in this place and you’ll see it’s filled with life—a skittering roadrunner, a jack rabbit lounging in the shade, a sotol bloom standing boldly in the beating sun. As night falls, a full moon casts a resolute shade of purple on the surrounding mountains, inviting you to stay just a little longer.
